GLib Overview GLib is a general-purpose utility library, which provides many useful data types, macros, type con-versions, string utilities, file utilities, a main loop abstraction, and so on. It works on many UNIX-like platforms, Windows, OS/2 and BeOS. GLib is released under the GNU Library General Public License (GNU LGPL). GLib Reference Manual GLib provides the core application building blocks for libraries and applications written in C. It provides the core object system used in GNOME, the main loop implementation, and a large set of utility functions for strings and common data structures. GLib provides platform independent macros for these parameters which should be used instead. A common example is G_GUINT64_FORMAT, which should be used instead of %llu or similar parameters for formatting bit integers. These macros are all named G_*_FORMAT; see Basic Types.
